  • Pastor Emmy

Pastor Emmy is our head pastor based out of Mbarara, Uganda and founder of Parental Care Ministries.  He and his wife, Sara aka "Supermom", look after almost five hundred children now in three schools. God has done so much through their ministry, but many do not know the whole story.  So, we are excited to give you Pastor Emmy's story in his own words.

  • Pastor Charles (Here is a note from Pastor Emmy telling of our construction friend) Pastor Charles has 5 children,3 boys and 2 girls. His home area is in Tororo Eastern Uganda near the boarder of Uganda and Kenya. He came to western Uganda working with the construction company called ROKO. He was not yet saved but a typical drunkard but with the grace of God,the Lord used Pastor Emmy to preach to him and He got saved in 1997. Since he got saved he came so committed to church bible studies and to all other Church activities. When his company finished their job in western Uganda, they asked him to go to another area where the the company had got another contruct but he refused to go and he said since I got saved from this place I don’t want to leave my Church and Pastor to go anywhere else before I grow strong I may backslide. He remained in Mbarara and passed through a very tuff situation where getting food for his family was not not easy. But he remained committed to the church and the Lord kept on changing him. In the spring 2008 he become seriously sick about to die even and when we they tested his blood they found that He was HIV positive but the good chance when they tested his wife, miraculiously the wife was negative. We prayed so much because by the time he become very sick, he was helping us a lot to pastor the Church and also in construction work. But for Charles this illness is a very big challenge to him. But he has helped us so much at the school. Because all the buildings we have at School he has been the one heading all that work. And also helping in the Pastoral work. These days he has been seriously sick again with malaria and stomachache but whenever he could feel some relief he could come to supervise the work. We could some times tell him you’re not well just keep at home until you recover but he cannot manage that. You just see him coming and sit at the work day after day. When he feel weak he goes in the store and sleep until he gains some strength he comes back and see what the the other workers are doing. He has helped our ministry a lot beloved. Keep him in your prayers. He has no house of his own but still renting. Pray for strength for his body and many more days on this earth to continue the terrific work he is doing.

  • Pastor Simon: Here is a picture of Simon, his wife and our team from November 2008.  Simon was saved in prison and now gives his life to Jesus Christ. His oldest son Teacher Emmy is at Parental Care School Mbarara. His youngest son Ivan attends school there.  Simon is a precious jewel, has one of the best smiles you will ever see, is a sharp dressed man, and can not only preach but beat a mean drum in hischurch.
  • Pastor Johnson  aka "The Chicken Church"

The reason we call it the "Chicken Church" is that Pastor Johnson and his family are so very generous. Our daughter Libby shared at the church back in March of 2008 and after she finished, Pastor Johnson gave our family a chicken, some eggs, a watermelon and each a cold Coca-Cola. We were blown away at his generosity and willingness to give.  Below is a famous picture at the Barret house.  Libby and this chicken never got any closer than this. The chicken made it with us in the van to the next church who held it for Pastor Emmy to come back and bring home for dinner.
